Selection Process

How are Moonshot Participants chosen?

Moonshot participants will be chosen by an independent committee composed of Sevier and Cocke County education and business leaders.

How are Moonshot Participants notified of their involvement?

Chosen candidates will be notified by phone to welcome them to the program. Those not accepted will be notified by email.

Travel

Will Moonshot participants travel as a group?

Not usually. Individual travel experiences based upon personal interests will be offered.  However, students may end up choosing the same trip as other participants and therefore may travel together if there is room for multiple participants to attend.

Will there be chaperones on the trips?

All travel opportunities will be supervised by qualified leaders from their respective student travel organizations.

Costs

Are there any fees or purchases that the student will be responsible for?

There may be small ancillary, discretionary expenses such as travel to local meetings, additional meals during travel experiences, etc. not covered. Moonshot will cover program costs and travel. 

Please keep in mind if you are traveling out of the country you will need a passport. This is expense is the responsibility of the student.

Parents

Can parents or guardians travel with students?

No, Moonshot is designed to be a student travel experience. All students and parents will be required to sign a waiver for participation and travel.
